Position Summary

The evening legal assistant is responsible for providing a widerange of technical and administrative support to partners, associates and legalassistants in both the corporate and litigation departments. Primaryresponsibilities include trial preparation, cite checking, IP searches, closingset assembly, maintaining databases and files, organizing and tracking casefiles, and general research. The candidate must be highly organized,technically proficient, handle pressure well, and understand the importance ofdeadlines. The evening legal assistants are scheduled to work from 4pm tomidnight, and beyond if necessary.

Duties andAccountabilities

  • Provide direct support for partners, senior associates, technical advisors, paralegals and other designated firm personnel
  • Hearing and trial preparation
  • Case calendar updates/docket checks
  • Cite check and bluebook briefs/table of authorities preparation
  • Copyright, trademark and patent searches
  • Data room organization and maintenance
  • Notarize documents
  • Filing and indexing
  • Records research
  • Closing document assembly
  • Communicate clearly and accurately any issues with workload to the assigned attorneys
  • Show excellent attention to detail
  • Qualifications

  • Four year college degree with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.3
  • Strong academic background
  • Clear and concise writing skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Demonstrate to be a team player
  • Knowledge of word processing software
  • Ability to follow through on projects
  • Ability to work under pressure and with a variety of personalities
