Virginia Tax is looking for several detailed oriented individuals to work in our Court Debt Collections Office (CDCO). The selected candidates for this position must be critical thinkers who enjoy conducting research and investigating delinquent cases utilizing multiple systems. Candidates must be able to analyze the facts of the case and use decision making skills to make sound and objective judgments, negotiate payment plans, and/or initiate collection actions. Additionally, candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced, production environment.

The Court Debt Collections Office is responsible for collecting delinquent court fines and fees owed to the Commonwealth of Virginia. CDCO represents 234 of Virginia’s courts and works closely with court clerks and staff, Commonwealth Attorneys, and parole and probation to provide reliable, efficient, and professional customer service to its clients.

This recruitment seeks to hire English speaking candidates, as well as bilingual Spanish candidates.

English Legal Collector hourly rate is up to $15.00/hour.

Bilingual Spanish Legal Collector hourly rate is up to $15.50/hour.

Minimum Qualifications

- Experience researching detailed information simultaneously using multiple applications
- Experience working in a call center environment
- Experience working in collections
- Experience in a customer service role
- Experience making sound decisions based on available information
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience conducting basic mathematical calculations
- Strong English communication skills, verbal and written, utilizing tact and persuasion

Preferred Qualifications

- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish and English
- Experience negotiating payment plans

Special Requirements

All Virginia Tax employees must be current with filing their tax returns ensuring they were filed in compliance with established laws, rules and regulations. Selected candidate(s) will be required to consent to and successfully pass a background investigation which includes fingerprint-based criminal history, tax compliance, and DMV driving record (if applicable) checks.
