The Senior Patent and Technology Counsel serves as lead counsel for a wide variety of legal matters, supporting the company's growing categories and innovation. We are looking for a dynamic leader who can cultivate key cross-functional relationships to ensure our company proactively protects, expands and develops intellectual property related to our products, technologies and processes. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: freedom-top operate analyses, product clearance, patent filing and prosecution, ongoing awareness of patent law and overall patent strategy development, drafting and negotiating NDAs, JDAs, MTAs and other IP-related agreements, third party IP diligence, organizational training, support for adversarial matters, and providing general advice regarding technology and patent-related issues for our organization and its affiliates. This role requires a self-motivated, curious individual who enjoys interacting with clients and learning about and protecting business, products and technologies.

Accountabilities:
Provide leadership and direction on patent strategy globally.
Develop and implement strategic plan to optimize patent program and worldwide patent portfolio.
Define technical IP strategy and landscaping for development projects and business interests in close collaboration with R&D.
Review invention disclosures and evaluate U.S. and foreign filing options.
Coordinate with outside counsel, review and prosecute patent applications and communicate decisions regarding patent applications, patent issuance, including foreign filings.
Identify, document and evaluate patentable and strategic inventions from business units.
Build commercialization opportunities and assist in identifying potential licensing opportunities.
Support IP issues/diligence in M&A contexts.
Draft and negotiate technology licenses, technology partner agreements, service agreements, transfer agreements and other IP-related agreements as necessary.
Other responsibilities as needed.

Ability to quickly identify critical legal risks and to appreciate both the immediate and longer-term impacts of different legal courses of action.
Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to prioritize time spent on matters by value and risk.
Global mindset and ability to work virtually with business colleagues in other regions.
Detail-oriented.
High initiative, self-starter and willingness to learn new areas of the law.

Required Skills and Experience:
Member of at least one state bar.
Juris Doctorate degree (JD) from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience in patent and technology law, including significant experience managing patent portfolios.
Experience managing outside counsel and establishing and monitoring legal budgets on a project basis.
Experience working with and advising senior business leaders, especially for patent and technology strategic goals.
