Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Contracts Manager. In this role, the successful candidate Provides legal review/advice and negotiate agreements involving intellectual property and research at NYULMC and the University, including research, license, material transfer (incoming and outgoing), confidentiality, inter-institutional, consulting, software agreements, and other agreements. Provides guidance and leadership to the Contracts Analyst and Contracts Specialists in the negotiation of contracts and/or grants. Job Responsibilities: Adheres to Medical Center policies and behavioral standards. Cultivates strong working relationship with other parties in negotiations, to promote productive business relationships. Seeks creative solutions to obstacles encountered in negotiations, to meet both partiesneeds. Monitors progression of negotiations to ensure timely completion, and informs relevant individuals of delays to determine if they can be overcome, consistent with institutional policy. Ensures agreements comply with Medical Center policies and procedures, and regional and federal regulations. Coordinates with involved faculty to ensure agreements meet faculty needs. Keeps faculty apprised of negotiation process. Oversee staff assignments and evaluates job performance of Contracts Specialists and Analysts. Serves as primary point person in negotiating agreements with industry and other academic institutions. Coordinate with the Office Business Development staff, Office of Legal Counsel, Risk Management & Insurance, Office of Science and Research, and other involved NYULMC offices and University, as appropriate. Provides legal review/advise and negotiate agreements involving intellectual property and research at the Medical Center including research, license, material transfer (incoming and outgoing), confidentiality, inter-institutional, consulting, software agreements, and other agreements. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Juris Doctrate (JD) and 5 yearsexperience in negotiating agreements involving research and intellectual property or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent administrative, negotiating, interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to work effectively with senior management, academic scientists, and executives from industry, and to achieve consensus and promote effective long-term relationships. Ability to clearly explain positions, listen carefully to understand other partiesconcerns, identify creative solutions to problems, clearly and concisely summarize legal issues for management, and manage large number of projects simultaneouslySalary Range: NAMinimum QualificationLess than 5 years * The salary listed in the header is an estimate based on salary data for similar jobs in the same area.
