The Northeast Arc helps people with disabilities become full participants in the community; choosing for themselves how to live, learn, work, socialize and play. One of the most innovative agencies in the state serving children and adults with disabilities, Northeast Arc was founded in the 1950's by parents with the courage and determination to ensure their children and others with disabilities will always have every opportunity to live and thrive in the community.
Adult Companions are responsible for providing family support as outlined within the specific adult companion agreement . Responsibilities may include planning and implementing activities based on consumers social, community, and recreational interests.
Participates in the planning of adult companion activities with the consumer and the family. Notifies family of all activity and circumstances which occur during activities.
Implements and provides recreational and leisure time activities.
Provides transportation when necessary.
Arranges for medical/emergency treatment of the consumer and adheres to the Family Support procedure guidelines.
Completes all required documentation to ensure appropriate service delivery and compliance with DDS,MCB and agency standards (Mileage, summary sheets, facts sheets and incident reports)
Attends all required trainings and meetings
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma/equivalent.
Have or willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications.
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle is required.
Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Evening and weekend availability is required.
Schedule: Evening and weekend availability is required for Adult Companion positions (3-10 hours per week based on availability). We currently have openings throughout the north shore.
Pay Rate: $15-$18 per hour
