    Experience and education

    Development Manager
    We are searching for a Development Manager responsible for leading MidAtlantic and Northeast value add & development activities with a seed portfolio of over $1 Billion underway and in the pipeline on behalf of a national institutional Real Estate Advisor with $20B in AUM.

    Reporting to National Head of Value Add & Development. Based in New York City.?

    Oversee the portfolio in the following areas:

  • Direct project management of ground-up and repositioning projects: including oversight of the design, construction and close-out; as well as leasing support;
  • Feasibility and financial analysis of potential development and value-add investments and transactions;
  • Oversight of development partners in charge of project execution;
  • Assist in managing entitlements of various projects, including both repositioning, rezoning and land entitlements;
  • Procuring development team members (developers, architects, engineers, contractors, brokers, etc.) through a competitive process
  • Negotiation of project documents: including joint venture operating agreements, development management agreements, architect agreements, GMP and Design/Build construction contracts;
  • Management of administrative responsibilities such as payment and draw applications and project reporting.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate the economic and financial performance of commercial real estate projects (particularly retail, industrial and multifamily);
  • Develop Investment Committee presentations for evaluating opportunities.

    Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business or Engineering strongly preferred. An MBA degree a benefit.
  • Proven self starter with leadership skills
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in real estate development project management, asset management and/or real estate finance.
  • Ability to manage several medium and large ground-up development projects and major re-development projects simultaneously.
  • A strong working knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, scheduling and process as they relate to real estate development projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, professional manner and computer literacy (MS Office, Argus required)
  • Flexibility with work hours and travel to project sites as needed.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills
  • A relationship builder

    Both verbal and written communication skills are vital, and, of course you?ll be good at establishing relationships with all levels of the organization & external clients.
