Executive Director, Global Trade Compliance Brand: Este Lauder Companies Description The Global Trade Compliance Executive Director will be responsible for the development, execution and oversight of the US import and export compliance program and is accountable for import and export risk management and tariff planning strategies. The position will report to the VP of Tax with a dotted line to the Law department. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of interpreting and communicating the substance of complex regulations related to customs, exports and sanctions, and special trade programs, including foreign trade zones (FTZ), with an ability to translate them into appropriate processes and risk management advice in consultation with in-house counsel. The Global Trade Compliance Executive Director will serve as the liaison between the Tax function and the internal and external Estee Lauder stakeholders with regards to the global trade compliance group's performance, purpose, function, and utilization, and is responsible for reviewing global trade function metrics. The individual will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with Estee Lauder leadership and will represent the global trade compliance group to the rest of Estee Lauder and to external groups. Oversee internal control framework, including risk assessment program and ISAC-TPAT Oversee corporate policies and procedures including customs valuation methodology, classification processes, SPLRPL screening processes, recordkeeping policy, third party service provider approvals, etc. Oversee external audits and correction strategy (amendments, PDs, etc.); Direct corrective actions as necessary to ensure compliance and proper implementation of procedures Direct Special Programs strategy and controls, including identification, usage, staffing and compliance for Foreign Trade Zones, Free Trade Agreements, etc Approve design and execution plan for training programs, which will include working closely with the Legal Department to develop policies, procedures, and guidance Approve third parties (brokers, forwarders, duty drawback providers, co-source partners, etc) and associated Service Level Agreements, Key Performance Indicators, etc Lead M & A due diligence and integration strategy Maintain awareness of regulatory environment and facilitate dissemination of information as applicable to ELC Interact with multiple internal and external groups and representatives, including law, IT, supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, procurement, R & D, government regulators, customs brokers, and forwarders to support import and export cross border compliance program; Lead point of contact for issue management with cross border agencies, including CBP, FDA and USDA Manage global trade compliance talent, technology and budget against efficiency and effectiveness goals Periodically report status of cross border compliance risks and opportunities; Escalate issues as needed Travel up to 25% on average (might exceed periodically).
