ABOUT THE JOB Reporting to the Deputy Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Business Operations and Compliance will lead the strategic design, implementation, and ongoing management of core business operations related to organizational risk and operational compliance. The Director will work in partnership with stakeholders throughout the ACLU to identify where new or improved systems and processes are needed to improve efficiency, mitigate risk, and align ACLU internal operations with our core mission and values. Current operational priorities include security, operational accessibility, procurement and vendor management, data governance, and volunteer risk management. The Business Operations and Support Services team in the Administration and Finance Department of the ACLU's National Office in New York City is seeking applicants for a full-time Director of Business Operations and Compliance. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Identify and address gaps and inefficiencies in centralized organizational and operational processes. Lead the development, governance, and management of programs necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor the ACLU's operational risk. Facilitate cross functional projects to design and implement system and process solutions. Ensure organizational initiatives around Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are integrated into our operational processes and standards. Manage the ACLU's insurance programs to identify exposures and evaluate and recommend solutions. Develop and oversee the ACLU's integrated security program to ensure the safety of staff, facilities, and information, including direct management of physical security programming, crisis management, incident response, and business continuity. Coordinate with Training and Development team to design and implement training on policies and procedures. Create and maintain an annual review process to ensure that all process and procedure for operational compliance evolve with changing internal and external requirements. Determine staffing needs and manage team to support operational processes. Develop and manage the unit's annual budget. Manage vendor relationships. Undertake special projects as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A minimum of 8 years of experience in business operations demonstrating progressively increasing responsibility. Ability to design and implement streamlined process solutions in a complex business environment. Problem solving skills, decision-making ability, and the ability to take initiative required. Demonstrable experience evaluating risk and implementing risk mitigation strategies. Strong communication and project management skills required. Commitment to work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and/or conflicts. Commitment to the mission and goals of the ACLU. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with compliance management desirable.
