The Division of Professional Licensure, an agency within the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, protects consumers by making sure the professionals they hire comply with state licensing laws. DPL oversees 39 boards of registration, which license and regulate more than 580,000 individuals and business to practice some 167 trades and professions. DPL also licenses and regulates the Office of Public Safety and Inspections, and the Office of Private Occupational Schools. The Boards' missions are to establish minimum qualifications and license qualified professionals and business, to ensure the health, safety, welfare of consumers and the general public. The Division and its boards investigate nearly 4,000 complaints annually from consumers and law enforcement agencies regarding possible misconduct by licensees, resulting in the prosecution and board adjudication of approximately 2,100 cases annually. The Compliance Officer III oversees and coordinates assigned unit activities to ensure effective operations and compliance with laws, rules, regulations and policies. The Compliance Officer III monitors pertinent program areas, various activities, services and/or functions through observation, interviews, evaluations and/or conferences to ensure compliance with governing laws, rules, regulations, program goals, etc. and to provide feedback concerning agency programs. The primary program areas include the following professional fields: Electricians and Fire Alarm Technicians. Other professional fields may be assigned in the future.
